Lazy Sunday

The weather was nice on Sunday, so we decided to take a drive through Steven's Pass to Leavenworth and enjoy the coming season. We stopped at the very short, but very cool Tumwater Pipeline trail. Enjoy.

Various

I've been meaning to post some various photos and one-offs that I've taken over the past few months, many in color. Enjoy.

Arid

Chrissy, Pretzel and I took a drive over the Cascades to Ellensburg to hike the Umtanum Ridge Trail yesterday. I had forgotten how dry it is just a couple of hours away from the green, wet Seattle area. We had a great time taking pictures of the landscape, and even saw a few mule deer.

Promontory

Two weekends ago, Chrissy, Pretzel and I took a walk around Rattlesnake Lake. Last weekend, we hiked up to the top or Rattlesnake Ledge, which rises over the lake. It's a short, forty-five minute-to-an-hour hike. We were expecting cold wet weather, with a chance of snow. Fortunately, we were met with completely clear sunny skies - perfect once we reached the top.

A Bit of Warmth in the Cold

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I'm unbelievably thankful for having the best wife you could ever have.

Lost to Water & Fire

Chrissy and I were pretty worn out last weekend, but wanted to get out nonetheless. We decided to head up to Rattlesnake Lake, just southeast of North Bend, Washington. The lake sits in the shadow of Rattlesnake Ledge, known to almost everyone in Seattle.

The cool part not known to everyone, is that from 1906 to 1915, the frontier town of Moncton existed around the lake. A dam built nearby, however, caused the town to flood beyond repair, so the residents decided to pack up and burn the structures. During the fall, when the lake recedes quite heavily, you can find fences, foundations, and other landmarks that normally sit under about 20 feet of water.

Check out some pictures of Moncton as it stood, below the post.

Camano Island

After a hard fought, but devastating loss to MSU the previous afternoon, Chrissy and I decided to shake off the disappointment. We've started to just point at the map and hop in the car, ending up where our feet take us. We landed on Camano Island, north of Seattle and Everett. You can see Chrissy's pictures here.

Fortunately, there weren't many others out. This was probably due to the Seahawks game.

The area right where you land on the island is a small village, but the rest of the island is pretty sparsely populated.
